Located in the heart of the historic city center, are housed in a historic building that has been beautifully restored to its former glory. The building, which dates back to the 19th century, has been transformed into a stunning boutique hotel with just 19 rooms, each one exquisitely decorated and designed to provide guests with the ultimate in luxury and comfort.
The History of Heirloom Hotels and the Mansion Suites
The land was originally bought by Hippolyte Leopold Heughebaert in 1892. He commissioned the architect Masereel to build a house for his family: The Mansion. The building that houses Heirloom Hotels’ Mansion Suites has a rich history, it has been meticulously restored, with many of the original features still intact, such as the ornate ceilings and intricate woodwork. The attention to detail is evident throughout the hotel, with each suite being individually designed and furnished to provide a unique and memorable experience for guests. The Mansion is located on the corner of the Hoogstraat and the Rasphuisstraat in Ghent, a lively neighbourhood with numerous restaurants in all genres. From the Hoogstraat, it is only a 10-minute walk to the Graslei, the historical heart of Ghent.

The hotel also offers a range of services, including room service, virtual reception and breakfast. Depending on the virtual reception, it allows for seamless check-in and check-out processes, reducing waiting times and providing a more efficient and convenient experience for guests. Before we arrive at the Mansion we received by email the code to open the front door and our room’s door. Finally, if you need something extra their virtual butler is at your service 24 hours a day via numerous communication channels such as Whatsapp, Social Media, email and phone.
Note! There’s no elevator available, and the hotel only has stairs. This means that if you’re using a wheelchair or have a stroller with you, it might be a bit tricky to navigate.
Queen Room with Balcony
We were fortunate enough to stay in the Queen Room with Balcony at Heirloom Hotels, and it was an absolute delight. From the moment we stepped foot into the historic Mansion, we knew we were in for a treat. The room itself was a cozy haven, with every detail carefully designed to ensure maximum comfort. The hot water was readily available throughout the day, allowing us to unwind and relax whenever we pleased. The abundance of natural light streaming through the huge window made the room feel bright and inviting, creating a serene atmosphere that was perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring Ghent and writing our blog posts. The highlight of the room was undoubtedly the grand bed, which provided the utmost comfort and ensured a restful night’s sleep for us and the baby too.
Activities and Sights in Ghent
The Mansion Suites at Heirloom Hotels are conveniently located in the heart of Ghent, providing easy access to all the city has to offer. Visitors can explore the historic city center, with its stunning architecture, charming canals, and vibrant culture. Must-see attractions include St. Bavo’s Cathedral, the Castle of the Counts, and the Graslei, a picturesque quay lined with historic buildings and outdoor cafes. We didn’t have to take a bus, tram or taxi for any of the above, as they were all very close to the hotel.
